Trainee Patent Attorney

Matilda graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2023 with a MSci in Biochemistry with Professional Placement. She joined Sandersons in October 2024 as a trainee patent attorney and is currently working towards qualification as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney.

Experience

Matilda’s brings a range of technical knowledge in structural biology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology and genetics, alongside a strong understanding of the research and development processes in both academic and industrial settings.

During her professional placement year at Reckitt, she worked in the Nurofen Analytical Department, gaining invaluable experience in a fast-paced GMP environment. Throughout her master’s research, Matilda investigated the structural properties of a novel protein in an obligate predatory bacterium, aiming to uncover insights into its unique mechanisms of bacterial predation.

Outside Work

When not at Sandersons, Matilda enjoys staying active through running, hiking, playing hockey and most recently, trying her hand at Muay Thai. Matilda is an avid podcast listener and loves a good thriller novel. Otherwise, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and her dog, Wilbur.
